I often wonder who’s poor, who’s rich, and the differences between the mentalities of each. When I look it this photo, I see someone who is willing to do what is necessary to survive. That may make this person poor in material, but are they rich in spirit? After leaving NYC clubs at 4 in the morning, I often saw men and women like the person shown here going through trash receptacles to get empty cans and bottles. I think it takes a rich spirit to be able to do that. Not everyone could. In that way, even those who are in Poverty are remarkably rich. It’s ALL Academics! Or maybe the bottles here are bus fare, and this photo is a statement about the ever rising inflation in what is fast becoming the most expensive American city to live in…
